Copper plated pitchers and tumblers need proper care to ensure they stay shiny and continue to captivate all. The good news is that copper plated utensils can be maintained using some simple home remedies.
IMPORTANT - It is not safe to put the copper pitcher in the dish-washer.
- Wash the pitcher and the tumblers regularly. Please keep in mind that your copper plated utensils are not dishwasher safe. These can be washed with warm water and a little soap. Avoid using too many chemicals when cleaning. Gently rinse the inside by putting soap water in them and shaking (when covering up the openings using one hand) and the soap the exterior. Use a soft dish cloth to dry the pitcher and the tumblers. You can keep them upside down on any surface after washing to drain water residue. It is also not safe to put the pitcher and the tumblers in the microwave oven.
- LEMON AND SALT. If you notice tarnish in certain areas on their bodies, cut a lemon in half and sprinkle some salt on it. Scrub them with the lemon and wash with lukewarm water. This will return them to their shiny self.
- VINEGAR AND SALT. Vinegar and salt are excellent for cleaning copper because acidic vinegar can strip tarnish and abrasive salt helps to remove any of the built-up debris.
- KETCHUP. Spread a little ketchup on the affected areas and evenly spread with fingers. Let it sit for a few minutes. Wipe the ketchup with a sponge or a dish cloth. Rinse the ketchup thoroughly with lukewarm water. This should do the trick.
